Principal's Message
Dear Avondale Families,
Welcome back to a brand new school year at Avondale Elementary! We are so excited to see our students’ smiling faces fill the hallways again. Each new year brings fresh opportunities for learning, growth, and making great memories together.
First, a huge thank you for your incredible support during our annual fundraiser last year. This sets us up to provide students with their annual field trips and other experiences. Because of your generosity and commitment, we are able to provide resources that enrich every child’s education. You are a vital part of what makes Avondale a special place to learn.
As we begin the year, we are focused on building even stronger skills in reading and math. We’ve made progress, but we still have important work to do. One of the most powerful ways you can support our teachers and students is by helping your child practice math facts and read at home every day. Just 15 minutes a day can make a tremendous difference in confidence and achievement.
Finally, school attendance is critical! Our chronically absent rate last year was 39%. That means 39% of students were absent for more than 10% of the school year. This has a tremendous impact on student learning and performance. Whether excused or unexcused, the impact of attendance is the same. Continuous tardiness also has huge implications. Every day in school matters! Right now, our school attendance is at 91%, but our goal is 95%. When students are here, they learn, grow, and build the skills they need for success. Let’s work together to make every day count!
Together—school, family, and community—we can ensure that every Avondale student reaches their fullest potential. Thank you for partnering with us in this important work. Here’s to a year of growth, success, and joyful learning!
With gratitude and excitement,
